Notifies you when household staples are running low.

Configuring Grocery Alerts

Enable/Disable Alert Types

Go to Settings > Notifications
Find Grocery Alerts
Toggle each type:
- Low stock alerts
- Shopping day reminders
- List ready alerts

Set Alert Channels

Choose how to receive each alert:

In-app (default)
Email
Push
SMS

Low Stock Alert Settings

Global Threshold

Set when to alert across all staples:

Go to Settings > Notifications > Grocery Alerts
Set Low stock threshold (default: 3 days)
Alerts trigger when estimated days remaining ≤ threshold

Per-Staple Settings

Override for specific items:

Go to Groceries > Staples
Click on a staple
Set custom threshold
Enable/disable alerts for this item

Alert Timing

Low stock alerts are sent:

Daily: Once per day (default 6 AM)
Summary style: All low items in one notification
Configurable time: Change alert time in settings

Shopping Day Reminders

Setting Your Shopping Day

Go to Settings > Notifications > Grocery Alerts
Enable Shopping day reminder
Select day of week (e.g., Saturday)
Set reminder time (e.g., 9:00 AM)

What's Included

The reminder shows:

Number of items on your list
Low stock staples
Items from meal plan (if generated)
Quick link to your list

Per-Member Shopping Days

Different family members can have different shopping days:

Go to Settings > Family > [Member]
Find Grocery Alerts
Set their preferred shopping day

Useful when different people shop at different stores.

List Ready Alerts

When They're Sent

Alerts trigger when:

You generate a list from meal plan
The system auto-generates weekly list (if enabled)
A shared list is created

Auto-Generate Settings

Enable automatic list generation:

Go to Settings > Meals
Enable Auto-generate grocery list
Set generation day (e.g., Sunday)
Lists are created and notification sent

Secondary shopper: Shopping reminders only
Non-shoppers: No grocery alerts

Tips

Right-Size Your Thresholds

Frequently purchased items: 2-3 day threshold
Bulk items: 7+ day threshold
Critical items: Higher threshold for early warning

Align with Shopping Habits

Weekly shopper: 3-4 day threshold
Bi-weekly: 7 day threshold
As-needed: 1-2 day threshold

Use List Ready Alerts

Generate your list before shopping day to have time to review and add items.

Coordinate with Family

If multiple people shop, ensure alerts go to the right person for each shopping trip.
